Vibrational Matching Requires an Energy Shift

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for July 1 2008

Say a loud "aloha" to the first day of the second half of 2008.

I have to say that I'm blisteringly impressed with our subscribers that have shared with me how they have mastered their year already. They set their intentions clearly in January, they locked in their "action" plans, and they didn't let all of the normal garbage that can crop up in life knock them off their plans. You could say that they are a "vibrational match" to their goals and intentions.

Our friend Enoch give us an offering today that really gives this subject some traction.

Vibrational Matching Requires an Energy Shift
By Enoch Tan

In the process of achieving your goals, you have to become more than what you are. Your self identity needs to expand to include those things you intend to manifest. If you identify with the person you will be when you achieve your goal, you will get there very quickly. Once you have shifted your identity, you simply make gradual changes in your persona to match the one you would adopt when you have fully achieved your goal.

You are a different person with your goal achieved compared to the person you are without it. It is not just taking the actions to get to your goal. There is a different way you think about yourself when you have achieved your goal. There is a different way you perceive reality. Without this personal inner shift in your self identity, all your actions will ultimately fail because your personality conflict will sabotage your success. When you change your identity to match the person you will be with your goal achieved, your goal will manifest in your reality without fail.

The reason you have not already gotten what you desire is because you are holding yourself in a vibrational pattern that does not match the vibration you desire. That is the only reason ever! You cannot desire something but predominantly focus on the absence of it, and yet expect to receive it, because the vibrational frequency of its absence and the vibrational frequency of its presence are very different frequencies. Your desires and your beliefs must be a vibrational match in order to receive that which you desire. You need to have it in your being. You need to get it emotionally.

You have to be in a vibrational match with your desires and intentions in order to manifest them into reality. To be in a vibrational match with your desired reality means you have made an identity shift towards it. You identify yourself with it and therefore would do whatever it takes to be there now. You may take massive actions and work very hard for it, but it will just flow because you already know how is it like to be there. If you were already the person who is experiencing your desired reality, you would find that anything else is totally unacceptable, because it is simply not you. Your identity forces and compels you to live your ideal right here, right now.

When people find themselves wanting to become millionaires they tend to look at where they are and spend most of the time making decisions based on their present circumstances. Most of them keep saying, "I don't have enough" or "I wish I could have more" or "I need to pay these bills," and so on. The challenge is pretty obvious, they aim to achieve financial abundance coming from a scarcity mentality. If you need to look at where you are at, look at it once. Now keep your whole attention focused on the bigger picture.

The key to manifestation is the ability to shift awareness and hold focus. Keep your awareness more on where you want to go and less on where you are, and you will get there faster. You have to shift your awareness to your desired reality in order to draw it into manifestation. The key is to feel comfortable with thinking, talking and acting in a state where your desire is already a reality.

So to manifest millions, you must keep your energy and vision in terms of bigger numbers. Keep your awareness so that thinking in terms of bigger numbers becomes a part of your life. Once you keep your attention in the right place, thinking in terms of bigger numbers, the universe will provide you with plenty of opportunity to ensure that you can attain whatever it is you desire to accomplish. All you need to do is recognize the opportunities and act upon them.

To attract wealth, you have to BE wealthy. Your beliefs are your being in this world. You have to make the decision that you ARE wealthy, contrary to external physical evidence. Being wealth conscious magnetically attracts wealth into your life. You will attract wealth simply because of who you are. You have to shift your consciousness to be wealthy by realizing that abundance is everywhere and you will experience the wealth that is yours.

Get comfortable with larger numbers and amounts. If you already identify with your desired reality, you would feel that the larger numbers and amounts are really normal. You will also feel that they are not really big and anything smaller is really small indeed. Think the way you would think and feel about numbers and amounts when you are already the person you want to become. You would find many of the things you think of as too much for you now are really nothing at all. You would also feel that using a certain amount of resources or energy, in whatever form that you presently think is a lot, is no big deal because you have a lot more in your reserves and inflowing as well.

Having the identity of being a millionaire already doesn't mean you go and spend like crazy. That is not a good idea because someone with a millionaire mindset who does not manage his finances unwisely will get himself into debt. But a millionaire would be willing to invest more money into his business and spend more to increase his capacity of getting returns. You have to know how to resonate with your identity of being the person you will be in every way, in order to live correctly as that person now.

Seeing whether someone's identity is a vibrational match with his dreams and desires, is how you can tell whether such a person is going to make it, even if that person has not gotten the desired relationship, business or goal yet. You know that they are going to get it because they already have an identity shift towards the end result they want to achieve. Shift your identity and you will find yourself accelerating rapidly towards the desired reality you intend to manifest.
Enoch Tan aims to help people achieve higher awareness in living and experiencing life. To impact the world in the biggest way possible. To change lives and to create possibility. To revolutionize the way we understand the mind and reality. Because that is what governs every area of life, destiny and the universe. His book "Mind Reality" answers a great many questions that you've always been curious about! The Temperature of Instant Success

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Monday June 30 2008

Welcome to the last day of the first half of 2008.

Can you believe it, the year is a full half over, and as we do at the end of every quarter, we ask the questions.

Are you on track to fulfill the goals and intentions you set out in January?
If not, why not?

If you are on track, we send you our heartiest congratulations. If you are not on track, believe it or not, you can still pull them off. Now why is that?

It's pretty simple. Most people set out goals and intention for the "year" that frankly could be completed and fulfilled in less than half the time they planned for. We build in lots of "wiggle" room. However, that being said, you still have to get your act in gear
starting today if you wat to be in full celebration at that years close.

Our good friend Philip lays out some pretty good perspectives today that should give you all heart.

The Temperature of Instant Success
By Philip Humbert

This week, I had a conversation about the driving force behind the Industrial Revolution. Those early railroads and steamships created the world we know. Before the Industrial Revolution, we lived on farms and traveled on horseback. Afterwards, we lived in cities and railroads and massive steamships made commerce, education, travel and prosperity possible.

So, what powered the Industrial Revolution? Water. More specifically and more explosively, steam!

My friend pointed out that humans have depended on water for thousands of years. Water wheels have been around for a long time, and primitive sailing ships made exploration and early commerce possible, but they had little impact on the average person. Even hot water is of little use. In fact most of us avoid being in "hot water" and use it only for brewing tea or washing dishes. Even at 211 degrees Fahrenheit, water is not very exciting.

But add just one more degree and something amazing happens! At 212 degrees, you get steam and steam moves mountains! I'm convinced this metaphor applies to achieving our dreams.

As a golfer, I know that the difference in performance between a world-class PGA professional and a local club champion is measured in the tiniest of increments. To earn fame and fortune on "The Tour" the professional has to be an excellent putter, but none of them make every putt, every time. In fact, a millionaire professional only makes two or three more putts in a round of golf than some of the golfers at your local club. In putting, small differences are worth several million dollars per year!

When I started as a licensed Psychologist, there were three other people who shared the same specialty in our community. When I arrived, they had a monopoly and there was "no market" for me to make a living. My three competitors had years of experience. They had superb reputations, and our referral sources all knew and liked them. I was a nobody, young and untested. But I found an edge.

My competitors took up to a month to complete evaluations and get reports back to the people who needed them. I determined to dictate my reports, have them typed and delivered over-night. Were my reports any better? Of course not. Given my lack of experience, they probably weren't thorough or as good but when I personally
delivered my results the next day, I got lots of attention and soon had all the business I could handle.

The difference between "good" and "excellent" is very, very small. In my case, the difference actually had little to do with the scientific accuracy of my results. I just delivered my results faster, and that made "enough" difference to build my business.

For many people, the difference between being slim and fit, verses gradually becoming heavy and unhealthy may only be a hundred calories per day. Eat even a few more calories than you burn each day and you gain weight. Burn a few extra calories each day, and you lose weight. Sure, optimum health may be more complicated, but
it starts with a very small number of calories, maybe only one cookie per day!

This applies to any goal you want to achieve. Remember the old saying, "inch by inch, anything's a cinch?" The opposite is also true. "Yard by yard, everything is hard."

High achievers know that small differences make all the difference. The Industrial Revolution changed everything and it began with only one degree of additional heat applied to common, every day water. Boil the water, channel the steam, and you've got a locomotive to change the world.

What small differences will you make this week? Perhaps you'll make one more sales call, or prepare a bit more thoroughly for your next presentation. Whether in golf or sales or in the more "mundane" things like parenting, the top performers are rarely dramatically better. Typically, they are "ordinary people doing ordinary things,
extraordinarily well." This week, do a few ordinary things just slightly better. I think you'll see an extraordinary change in your results.

Make this last day of the first half of the year one of major celebration. Wooohooo!!
Take care,

What Are You Thinking?

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Thursday June 26 2008

Welcome to this fine Thursday.

My thanks and gratitude to all of our subscribers who have offered assistance as we re-build The Wealthy Attitude website. I’m deeply impressed how many folks have files full of “readers” and related materials that we have sent over the past few years.

Today we go to a good friend of The Wealthy Attitude for a message that has some significance for many.

What Are You Thinking!
By D. Paul Walmsley

"We are shaped by are thoughts. We become what we think." Buddha

There is nothing More destructive in the world than a thought we have that works against our highest good.

What is our highest good you ask, well it's that feeling of bliss when we are prompted by right action, when we can do no wrong. It's being in flow and everything and everyone work in harmony, it's life's majestic symphony and it plays for you.

So how do we get to this "highest good" state? First of all, it requires commitment. Commitment to your goal and commitment to the expected outcome. Not to say that you should expect how things will unfold, but to just know that the outcome will be in your highest and best good.

Furthermore, it requires focus, and not dividing your attention towards lesser distractions. It is very easy for the average person to get caught up in the "thick of thin things."

But wait, there's more. Clarity of purpose is essential in this recipe for success as well, as commitment and focus are great but without real clarity about what you want and why you want it the other two have nothing to anchor to.

No doubt about it, without a solid anchor it's easy to be blown about the game board of life and wind up in places we would rather not be.

But once we are committed to our goal, are focused and have clarity around it everything comes together to produce a most appropriate result.

Be conscious of your thoughts for they shape the very life you lead. If you wish to change your life you must first change your thinking.

Ralph Waldo Emerson penned it well when he wrote: "What lies behind us and what lies before us are but tiny matters to what lies within us."

Keep On Chargin'
D. Paul Walmsleywww.successrhino.com

Really folks, just what are you "thinking" today?

Take care,

Be The Boss Of Your Life

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Wednesday June 25 2008

Good day to you on this spectacular midweek day.

I’m happy to let you know that we are beginning to see the re-building of The Wealthy Attitude website take shape. I’m anticipating that you’ll begin to see its formation within the next week. I’m so excited.

Today though, we’re reflecting again on the topic of Leadership. It seems with some folk that this is like Fairies, you know, something mystical. I’ve been chatting with some really nice people who just haven’t cottoned on to the concept that “leadership” is something that is assumed and never granted.

Perhaps Jon can clear up some of the confusion.

Be The Boss Of Your Life
by Jon Rhodes

Do you feel like a follower instead of a leader? Would you like to gain more control of your life? Do people make many of your life decisions for you? Would you like to have pride and faith in your decision-making? If you answer "yes" to any of these then read on...

You do not have to be a leader of many to have a successful and fulfilling life, but you must at least be your own boss in life. A lot of people have a lot of advice or may even manipulate the decisions you make. Often they believe it is in your best interest. Sometimes it is to benefit themselves.

Usually when someone tries to influence a decision of yours, they take the stance of the decision which would benefit them if they were in your position. However they are not you! Something which may be right for them is not necessarily right for you.

It is always worth listening to the advice of others, as you can get some good solutions to use. However it is your life, your decision, and you who must face the consequences if things "go wrong" (not that anything is actually "wrong" - there is usually a lot of good that comes from any consequence, if we learn from our mistakes and spot other opportunities that arise as a result).

Therefore, you should always make the decision yourself, especially if there are manipulators in your life. Do you think that innovators such as Edison, Einstein, Da Vinci or Mozart blindly followed others' advice?

Many of us were conditioned in early life to surrender our power. Our parents, family, teachers, society, etc. often taught us to be followers rather than leaders. Do any of these rules look familiar?

Be quiet
Don't get too big for your boots
Be seen and not heard
Think of others before you think of yourself
Be happy with what you have got
Don't show off
Do as you are told
Don't be a know it all
Don't get too excited
Be modest
Do not answer back

These types of suggestions are typically bombarded into the brains of children for many years on a daily basis. Whilst the intention is usually constructive, they do not help in later life. They can leave some of us becoming dependent upon someone else's permission and opinions to lead us. Most people, for example, are too afraid to quit their job and start their own business; too afraid to ask their boss for a raise; too afraid to really "sell themselves" at job interviews; don't believe they can (or should be) great at anything. Great people like Nelson Mandella and Muhammed Ali werecertainly not afraid to be great, be noticed, and make a difference.

Instead of those limiting viewpoints, how about adopting these instead:

Be ambitious
Don't be modest
Think big
Be noticed
Be enthusiastic about your ideas
Be proud of yourself
Have confidence in your abilities
Be brave
Do not apologize if you have done nothing wrong

There is a great person in each and every one of us. It can be unlocked by simply believing in ourselves, and having the courage to follow our ideas. What use to the world is a shrinking violet? Does the world really admire these types of people? Do you admire these people?

Let go of these limiting suggestions of the past and embrace these new more positive ways of being.

Go for the things you want in life. Be seen. Be heard. Be proud. Be successful. You deserve it!

Remember, you "ARE" the boss of your life

COMMIT COMMIT! Where Discipline Meets Action.

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Tuesday June 24 2008

Welcome to this very fine Tuesday. Summer had finally burst upon us here, and it's blissful.

For the past couple of weeks while we've been going through the craziness of losing our websites, keeping our business hopping along, and assisting folks reach a level of thinking that better serves them, an underlying thought was forming.

"Chatter only exists where there is a vacuum of commitment"

This came to me as I was listening to some folks work to explain why they were not yet living their life by their own design. What they were sharing with me was just a whole bunch of "monkey chatter". You know that noise that develops in our head when it is filled with doubt, fear, and indecision.

The one thing I was able to share with the folks I was communicating with was, having them remember times in their lives that called for "commitment". When they had the time from their past visioned clearly, I asked them to recall the "chatter" that was going on in them at that moment. To a person they said either "none", or, the "chatter" changed to that of excitement, anticipation, and joy. What a breakthrough.

One of our newest contributors, Waldo Waldman, shares an offering today that takes the issue to a whole new level of understanding.

COMMIT COMMIT! Where Discipline Meets Action.
By Waldo Waldman

December 21, 1998 - a brisk winter day in Saudi Arabia. I was stationed on my first combat deployment, flying missions to enforce the Iraqi southern no-fly zone. Inexperienced and quite nervous, I was scheduled to take off on only the fourth combat sortie of my career. It was a mission I'll never forget.

I was flying that day with my flight lead, Lt. Col. "Hos" Hyatt, the commander of the 79th Fighter Squadron Tigers. Our "2 ship" of F-16s were charged with "sanitizing" the airspace of any enemy aircraft that might be crossing the restricted area. It was a routine patrol. Or not.

Suddenly, our radios blared with an urgent call from the radar ground controller, "Viper flight, you've got an MIG-23 150 miles off your nose headed south ... hostile, hostile!" This meant the MIG had crossed the no-fly zone and was headed toward us and the fuel tankers we were in charge of protecting. A split second later, my headset erupted with a call from Hos. "Viper flight, COMMIT, COMMIT!" Almost unconsciously, I pushed up my throttle to afterburner and started to climb, as I struggled to stay in perfect formation with Hos. There was no turning back. We were going after that MIG.

With those two words, "Commit, Commit," my destiny was set in motion. No time to think, simply time to react. I was trained for that moment and my instantaneous choice was clear: It was time to "commit."

My heart raced. The intensity was beyond words. Quite frankly, there was a part of me that asked, "Am I ready to do this? Will I get shot at? What if my engine fails?" Doubt crept in. But deep down, I knew I was ready and mentally and emotionally prepared. Otherwise I had no business being in that jet! Aborting that mission was not an option - period. I had a job to do. All my military training boiled down to this one moment, and I simply had to trust my wingmen, stay in position, and execute the briefed plan. It was time to act.

That moment may have come in the extreme of combat, but it was really no different than the "call to duty" we all face in everyday life and business.

Do you have the discipline and training to commit to action in your life - to "push it up" and go after your target with confidence? Do you have the discipline and training to commit to action in your life - to "push it up" Perhaps it's the challenge of raising afamily, a new job opportunity, going for a promotion, embarking on a fitness regimen or a "serious" diet, or the trust and rigors that come from of a relationship. The actions you take once you commit will determine the quality of your outcome.

If you're not ready to commit, no problem. Perhaps it's not the right time, or you just need more time. But if you really are committed to take action in your life, you better have the discipline to do what it takes to commit with confidence and foster that level of trust others can count on.

True commitment only exists when it is aligned with action. Action based on disciplined preparation, laser-sharp focus and, most of all: courage. The sort of courage that says, "Even though I may get 'shot at' - I will carry on!" This is the reality of flying fighters in combat, and it is also the reality of leading a life of passion that is based on commitment and action.

Bottom line: Before you commit to anything, you have to risk getting "shot at." You have to be willing to work and sacrifice. Let's face it, it's not easy to commit. If it were, everybody would be doing it.

My good friend, Dirk Jones, does 110 pushups every morning and he's in the gym more than I am. Dirk is 73. He's committed to staying fit and takes action to do so every day. I recently spoke to people from an amazing retail management company named Jones Lang LaSalle. Last year, a severe tornado ripped through one of their properties in Memphis - the Hickory Ridge Mall. Petrified, one of the employees refused to evacuate the building. Pat Jacobs, the mall's GM, stayed behind and risked his life to make sure the employee was safe.

Another wingman named Barry Woods drove 8 hours and spent 3 weeks with his coworkers to help them recover from the disaster. Barry and Pat were committed to serving their wingmen at JLL. They took action and it made a deep difference for their company.. So here's the wingtip: The ability to face our fears, harness courage, and commit to action when the stakes are high is a lot easier when we act in service to others. More importantly, when we have a trusted partner on our wing backing us up, it gives us courage to press on.

Hos was on my wing. Who's on yours? (PS: The MIG aborted and went back across the border. Mission accomplished!)

The Lateness of the Hour

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Monday June 23 2008

Welcome to another brand spanking shiny new week.

I’m not a typical T.V. watcher, nor all that keen on to many news type shows. However, I’m struck occasionally by some of the “personalities” that show up every now and then to tell me that they are driven by principles rather than ego.

Last week one of my favorite folks on network television suddenly passed away at the tender age of 58. I thoroughly enjoyed Tim Russert’s Sunday show “Meet The Press” as he would not toe the “official” line while challenging the political wonks that braved
his superior, and yet delightfully homely, intellect. I’ll certainly miss his perspectives.

Our friend Philip also was struck by Tim’s passing, and in his true form, could address it much more fittingly than me.

The Lateness of the Hour
By Philip Humbert

Have you noticed that the more tools we have to "help" us, the more it seems we "must" do? I find it curious and rather troubling that so many talented people say they are "stressed" or "swamped" or "over-whelmed" and just can't get their most important projects or priorities done.

How can this be?

Pretty much everyone I know is busy all the time. Our phones ring, we race from one meeting to the next appointment, then home at the end of the day. We work so hard! And yet those things we truly desire get pushed aside for "later." How can we be so busy and yet see so little progress toward our dreams?

And then last week, Tim Russert died. He died at his desk, recording voice-overs for last week's broadcast of Meet the Press. Mr. Russert and I were about the same age. I had the privilege of meeting him briefly while we waited for a flight a few years ago
and he struck me exactly the way he seemed on television--friendly, relaxed and focused. He wrote a wonderful book about his father, and based on his memorial service this week, he was loved and respected by the most famous and powerful people in our country. He's gone too soon.

My sense is that too many of us have dreams we are "putting off for someday" or working on far too slowly. We get caught up in the "thick of thin things" and our priorities are sacrificed on the altar of daily "have-to's." One of life's great tragedies is to die with your "music still inside you." Don't let that happen to you!

A friend of mine is an accountant and partner in a local CPA firm. He makes a good living, has maybe a dozen employees, and I gather he likes his work. But every time we talk, he tells me about the travel he and his wife want to do. He's never been outside the U.S. and he dreams of visiting Europe, the Great Wall of China, and
Australia. He talks about this constantly, but always in the future tense. He has "no time" and "can't afford it this year." What a shame!

Yet a member of his staff, a dynamo name Rhonda, takes a month off after tax season each year. She's helped build schools in Honduras and taken medical supplies to Cuba six times. She's learned Spanish, and her teenage children have dug wells, taught English and set up internet cafes in Central America because she has the time. My buddy has "no time" and "no money" but his employee does! I find that ironic and terribly thought-provoking.

What are your dreams and priorities? What would you do if you "had the time" and knew you couldn't fail? What wonderful projects are you working on slowly or hoping to build "some day?" Start now! Allocate time, energy, a few dollars or whatever it takes, and make it happen!

Yes, mowing the lawn or cleaning house or volunteering may be important, too, but not if they get in the way of your most important values! Whether your dream is running for office, writing a novel or spending more time with loved ones, make it happen. Tim Russert was only 58 and he accomplished a lot. I don't know if he
accomplished his most important dreams or not, but his time is up. The hour is late, perhaps later than we know.

Do not let your time and life "slip by."

Make this day a celebration of your very presence.
Take care,
~peter~

Make Refreshing Pauses

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Thursday June 19 2008

Welcome to this very fine Thursday.

I'm aware that you may be close to hearing enough about our website meltdown, but a ton of new lessons and awareness's come up every day that I think you might just be interested in. This "forced" vacation from our regular Internet activity has brought my attention to the need for taking some time away from the business of the business.

This "pause" is giving me time to load my iPod, read some materials I'm behind on, and wouldn't you know it, the occasional nap. What a concept, what a gift.

I've committed to taking regular scheduled time away from the computer. I'm powering down the cell phone more often, and, I am going to take some of those treasured naps.

Back in January a new contributor sent an offering that I didn't know quite where to slot it in. After this experience, and its associated lessons, it was very obvious that today is the day to share it with you. I think you'll enjoy it.

Make Refreshing Pauses
By Ellen Moore

Sometimes it's not possible to take as many vacations or breaks as you'd like. You know it helps to "get away" and incorporate some peace and quiet into your life, but it's often difficult to take as much time as you need. One way to work and live with less stress is to make deliberate use of small periods of time to create your own little "decompression chamber."

Set Aside Time to be Yourself
See where you can find numerous opportunities for small "hidden" breaks. Even at work or while accomplishing a specific task, you can often slow yourself down, look up, take a deep breath, enjoy your sip of coffee or tea, drink a glass of water, or even just refocus your eyes on something else in your environment. Allow yourself to think of something pleasant: a happy memory, an imagined scene, a tiny daydream, an amusing thought.

Arrive Early
You know what it feels like to arrive at an appointment rushed and out of breath and not quite ready to deal with your intended purpose. Unpack your schedule just a little in order to allow extra time for unexpected obstacles. A few silent moments to yourself can give you a lift and help you remember your intention before you begin your mission. You may spend those minutes on a bench, in your car, in a public rest room, or at the doorway of your destination. Arriving early allows you to be your most calm and focused self.

Take Time to be Grateful
During these small pauses, try making a habit of remembering the people and large and small things in your life that deserve your appreciation and gratitude. Think of what others have done for you, and the blessings in your life. If you have clean air to breathe, the ability to slow yourself down for a moment, clean water to drink, and an occasional view of the sky, you have more than much of the world's population. Let your heart be filled with thankfulness, even for the workers who make your clothing, for the farmers who produce the food you eat, for the far-away dock workers who unload your tea and coffee from the ship. All this is for you.

Use Cues to Remind Yourself
Think of actions you take every day: Eating a meal, putting a key in a lock, walking through a doorway, looking at a watch or a clock, taking a shower. All these can become automatic reminders to help you to remember to take a moment to center yourself, see a "larger picture," and be calm and grateful for the small, unseen, every-day miracles that surround you. Such pauses can make your day brighter, more meaningful, and less stressful. Use the time for the renewal of your inner self, and youmay find yourself less pressured and more refreshed than ever before.

Juicy Questions:
How do you feel when you rush through a day without pauses?
What pressures encourage you to work "harder, harder" and "faster, faster?"
What would your gratitude list include?
What gives your life meaning?
Who are the people for whom you are the most grateful?
What beautiful things do you surround yourself with?
How do you feel when you pause before a meeting or task?

Truth

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Wednesday June 18 2008

Say "aloha" to the midweek point.

Thank you all who continue to send notes on the meltdown of The Wealthy Attitude website, I appreciate it. One dedicated subscriber was able to point us to a place on Google where they cached snapshots of the site. It gave us a real break as we were at least able to get most of the "spine" of the site, and now we can set our sights on reconstruction.

I'm also deeply grateful to many of our contributors who really came to the fore with offers of neat "readers" so that we can continue this service uninterrupted while the site gets underway.

Today's offering touches on some very interesting points.

Truth...
By Alison Stoodley

I have noticed this many times and it holds true year after year: every word that comes out of my mouth is meant for me. What I mean by that is there really are no accidents and if a client or friend needs coaching in a certain area I need it too, or the opportunity to creatively deal with it would not be laid in my lap.

This week I have met with various egos, once in the form of denial, once in the form of outright lies and once in the form of the victim. All areas that I need to pay attention to. I find denial likes to hide out inside my health and fitness goals, telling me that I can deal with distractions, or that I can miss another workout and still get back on the horse easily.

My ego uses outright lies when someone asks me how I am and I tell them 'wonderful' when it is the furthest thing from the truth and I know it, but I don't want to bother others with my feelings. Of course this feeds perfectly into the state of 'victim' because it allows my ego to fill my head with such garbage as, 'no one careshow I really am', or 'can't they see that I am hurting?' or any number of other BS statements that are designed to keep me from connecting, really authentically connecting, with the people who love me.

So, now is the time for some truth....

1. I am in control of what happens to me.
2. I am surrounded by loving, compassionate people who are concerned for my welfare.
3. Support is simply a spoken or written word away.
4. I am capable of ANYTHING, my life is limitless.
5. Whatever I need, to accomplish my goals, is already within me.

My commitment to me is that when I forget these truths I will come back here and read this or ask a wonderful friend to remind me, because another truth is that the ego slips in occasionally and tries to make minced meat of our dreams and goals, and it happens to everyone. We are not meant to handle this stuff alone, we are meant to reach out and enroll our fellow man in our struggles, our dreams, our desires, our lives. We are meant to make authentic, powerful, loving connections with each other.

It is so true that no 'wo/man' is an island. We are surrounded by millions of people for a reason... remember what I said a paragraph ago? ...there really are no accidents.

Just Stay

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Tuesday June 17 2008

Welcome to this fine Tuesday.

My sincere thanks to all who sent me notes about the website issue. You're thoughts, advice, and considerations were gratefully received. Thank you.

I'm solidly positioned in my "stand" for making this event a major learning, and the Universe has responded already by showing me many ways to enhance our next website offering. Stay tuned, you'll be tickled when you see what we're working on.

Today, I want to share a story with you that impacts me every single time I read it. It causes me to "stop". I think you'll find that it touches you in some deep places.

Just Stay

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lit ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.

He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night. Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.

"Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

The next time someone needs you ... just be there. Stay.

Folks, this day is "dedicated" to you.

The Recipes for Chaos & Achievement

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Thursday June 12 2008

Welcome to this Thursday.

Firstly, my thanks to all who shared notes related to yesterday’s “reader”. It warms me always to acknowledge that we have amazingly thoughtful subscribers.

We’ve been focusing a lot recently on wealth, health, happiness and personal responsibility. Today is no different. We call on a good friend and contributor to share yet another great perspective on the issues.

The Recipes for Chaos & Achievement
by Philip Humbert

We all want lives of achievement, health, happiness and some measure of wealth. We want the "good life!" And yet, the vast majority end up leading relatively average, middle-class lives. How can this be? How can so many of the world's most educated people end up working paycheck to paycheck?

I think the answers are pretty simple.

Most of us were never taught HOW to create and live a great life! We don't study this in school. We admire people who have done great things, but no one coaches us, no one shows us the way. And so we stumble. We struggle. We ARE educated, ambitious, educated people and we do the best we can, but without the basic recipe, too often we get only average results.

So, I want to share with you two of the most important "recipes" I know I teach these formulas to my coaching clients and I want to share them with you. My price? Only this: If you find them helpful, I ask that you pass them on to at least two other people. Forward this reader, or print it out and mail it to two friends. I hope you're willing to do that.

Ok, here we go.

The first recipe is what I call the recipe for chaos. It goes like this:
Impulse + Opportunity = Chaos

Every day, we all have impulses to study or to spend, to do our work or to watch television. Impulses are merely ideas that pop into our brains and momentarily catch our attention. The problem is that they are relatively random and too many are based on casual appetites or unhealthy temptations. There's nothing inherently bad or wrong with our impulses, but there is nothing inherently good or trustworthy about them, either.

And, too often our impulses get matched with opportunity for instant gratification. Here's how it works.

Consider the impulse to spend, combined with a credit card in your wallet. Too often, the result is casual debt, and that can be a problem Or how about the impulse to watch television (just one show), combined with a beautiful new TV in the family room? Too often, the result is wasted time. You see the pattern?

Impulses happen. When we surround ourselves with opportunities for instant gratification, the result can be a life lurching out of control .

Now, consider another recipe, the one for achievement. Here it is:
Desire + Discipline = Achievement

"Desire" comes from Latin words that mean "of the father." Our deepest desires represent our true longings, our mission or purpose or values in life. When we are clear about our real DESIRES and combine them with a disciplined life, the results can be astonishing!

Jonas Salk had the DESIRE to prevent polio and the DISCIPLINE to do the research, study his notes and make the discoveries. The results changed the world. Mary Kay Ash (of Mary Kay Cosmetics) had the DESIRE to help single moms like herself, and the DISCIPLINE to find a way. She had no money (she started with $500) and no business experience, but she pressed forward. She changed an industry and helped millions of women in the process.

Random impulses in a world of undisciplined opportunity can lead to chaos, debt, and disaster. Knowing your deepest DESIRES and matching them with even minimal DISCIPLINE, however, is the recipe for achievement. When Stephen Covey talks about "starting with the end in mind," he's talking about being clear about your desires. When we talk about written goals, we're talking about strong desires. When you know what you truly want, and go after it with discipline and determination, the results are astounding.

That's the recipe for achievement!

Freeing Yourself to Receive Abundance of Money

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Wednesday June 11 2008

Welcome to this mid-week point. We have a great perspective for you today.

Our friend Enoch Tan has been watching carefully what we’ve been discussing these past few weeks. Enoch is a 21st century pioneer in the areas of “personal transformation” and “destiny shaping”.

All of the information we’ve been sharing recently about “personal responsibility” has been right up Enoch’s alley and he’s sharing something with us today that will certainly clarify some things for you.

I feel strongly enough about Enoch’s contribution to recommend you take some time today to really consider what he’s sharing means to you personally. I believe you’ll be happy you spent the time in consideration. I’ll look forward to your feedback.

Freeing Yourself to Receive Abundance of Money
by Enoch Tan

One of the secrets of manifesting wealth is the acceptance of energy in the form of money for the energy that you put out. If you have resistance towards the idea of having to pay for something or towards others asking for payment, then you are limiting yourself from receiving money for anything that you do, since you think you should be providing it for free. This is a reason why many people remain poor financially when they could gain a lot monetarily for what they have to offer. They're limiting themselves.

The truth is everything is available for free. No one actually owns anything because it is all part of the universe. Ownership is an idea where people agree what belongs to who and what rights do they have regarding it. Ownership of anything is all based on agreement between consciousness. When there is conflict of consciousness, people fight and take from each other by force against the will. When there is harmony of consciousness, people willingly agree in sharing or exchanging ownership of things.

The purpose of business is in the organization and promotion of things. When we buy a bottle of water, we are not paying for the bottle or the water because nature supplies the water and what the bottle is made up of. We are paying for the work done in obtaining the raw materials, putting them together, marketing it and handling it to us. All these takes work and therefore those that do all the work for us so that we can experience such things without doing any of the work, receive money in exchange.

Money is only an idea to represent how much value you have provided for others. That is why ill gotten gains do not last because the universe is always reflecting what you do. When you take money without providing real value, money will be taken from you without giving you real value. When you provide lots of value for others, you are meant to receive lots of money so that you can use it to receive value from others that is yours to rightfully experience. Then you are better able to provide even more value.

People who have resistance towards giving money in exchange for the value that others provide also have resistance towards receiving money from others for the value they provide. That is because they see money as scarce and limited. They want to increase the abundance of others by giving to them, but if they take anything in return, they would cause a decrease. But that very perception is oxymoronic, because they are still seeing lack in the person even when they are trying to express abundance.

All conditions in life are created by consciousness. You manifest exactly what you perceive. If you try to express abundance towards another while seeing lack in them, you will perpetuate conditions of lack in your experience with them. In order to experience abundance, you have to perceive abundance. If your world really was abundant, then you'd expect that others have more than enough to give to you for what you give to them, and you'd receive joyfully knowing that they'll keep having more themselves.

That is why people who have wealth consciousness keep getting wealthier compared to the rest of the world. They have the freedom to charge for whatever they do according to the amount they believe it is worth, even when it is to people who try to tell them they are charging too much, or should not be charging at all. It is because wealth conscious people perceive their reality as abundant and do not allow themselves to be affected be the perceptions of those that come from a limited consciousness.

If everyone in this world was wealth conscious and freely gave money to others and freely received it when it is appropriate, then everyone would be as wealthy as they could be. This is because energy would flow freely and hence everyone would be able to experience what they desire without holding back from paying for it, and others would not hold back from paying them for what they contribute. The economy would be much smoother and the progress of the entire world would advance extremely fast.

The state of the health of a body depends on the circulation of blood. The blood transports nutrients to the cells and transports waste away from them. The better the circulation the better the health will be. The state of the wealth of a nation depends on the flow of the economy. Money helps to move the things that we want to us, and helps to move what we have to offer to others. Both health and wealth are really different forms of the same thing called well being, which depends on free flowing of energy.

Stop holding back paying for something you know will contribute to your progress. The more unlimited you become, the faster you will achieve everything you desire in life. Stop holding back offering your value for payment because when you make others pay for what you offer, you are allowing them to express abundance as well. You are perceiving them as having the money to pay and also the willingness to give it to you. You are saying that you are worth giving money to and others have money to give.

Since the flow of money is the flow of value, you should facilitate as much flow as possible in order to facilitate as much flow of value. Be flexible in your pricing of things in both directions. Set your price at a level where it is able to make the best amount of sales for the best amount of profits so that you and others would gain the best. If you under price or overprice, you are undervaluing yourself and others. Because you are saying that you are not worth it or others are not good enough for what you are offering.

Have a wealth consciousness by believing there is plenty of money to go around, because there really is. The world is awash in money. It is like Niagara falls. It is flowing for everyone but most of you are showing up with teaspoons. If you saw the world from a perspective of abundance, you would see that others have abundance of money to give to you and never have lesser for themselves. You would be willing to take as much as you desire freely and by doing so, you free others to take more for themselves.

Courage in the Face of Failure

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Tuesday June 10 2008

Welcome to this fine Tuesday.

One of the great parts about my “job” here at this desk is that I get to share ideas, concepts, and practices with an entire team of contributors and writers. We get to virtually “hang out” and dig deeply into the entire spectrum of feelings and emotions that drive us all each and every day.

For these great folks there is nothing that can’t be discussed, dug into, dealt with, and dissected. You can just imagine the scope of where these conversations can go. It’s all very stimulating.

One of the issues that frequently comes up is how to deal with “failure”. I’m absolutely sure that if you are reading this note you have had to address this subject at sometime in your life.
Today’s offering gives us all yet another perspective on what can be a crippling issue.

Courage in the Face of Failure
By Charlie Badenhop

The fear of failure is an emotion that knocks on everyone's door at one time or another. I hope this story helps you reconsider failure from a new, more heartfelt perspective.

A woman in her fifties who'd been working as a business professional for a number of years - let's call her "Karen" - came to one of my workshops for the first time. As is my usual style, Karen and I start out talking about various topics, as we wait for the "right" thread of conversation to emerge. I have no idea what the right thread will be, but I'm confident it will present itself, if we engage each other with open hearts and minds.

At some point Karen states she's been doing a lot of meaningless work for quite some time. She says she's been doing the work no one else in her company wanted to do. As a result of this, she says she's lost touch with herself and her dreams. In a very heavy, dark voice she says, "Fifty two years old, and look at me, I'm a failure! A broken marriage, a broken career, and nothing to show for anything."

Her words touch me deeply. I sit back and take a deep breath to help center myself, as I thank her for having the courage to share such a powerful message. "Failure or no failure," I say, "It's very special to be with someone who has the courage to step forth and expose their pain. Courage in the face of perceived failure, is a great triumph of human spirit." I take another deep breath and look around the room some, wanting everyone to know it's OK to gently respond, if they care to.

I look back at Karen and begin to tell her about some of my own failures. I don't have to reach too far, to find some areas of disappointment and disillusionment. Little by little, spontaneously and honestly, most everyone in the room starts sharing their failures as well. Job, marriage, parenthood, friendship, making amends with one's parents before they die... The list grows rather long, rather quickly.

It soon becomes apparent that none of us have been "only successful." At some point I ask the group if anyone would be willing to share their definition of "failure." There is silence, and then Karen, all of a sudden looking somewhat inspired says...

"Failure is when you try to make believe you are someone other than who you are. Failure is when you come to believe there aren't any viable alternatives in life, to the way you've been living. Failure is when you don't share your experience with others because you're convinced it's only you who is suffering, or that somehow all of this madness has happened because something's wrong with you. Failure is feeling you are incapable of finding satisfaction and love."

Still knowing almost nothing about my work at this point, After making her statements, Karen adjusts her posture and further says, "Failure is sitting in a posture like I tend to sit in, and taking that posture out into the world."

Tears began to ebb down Karen's face, and the entire group is touched by Karen's courage and pain. People go from listening with their ears to an experience that was "someone else's," to feeling with their hearts how Karen's words and Karen's sorrow also belong to them.

Such is the power of a supportive, caring community. It transforms "I" into "We"! It is this "we-dentity" that gives us the courage to stand up and face our strongest pain, our greatest fears. The courageous sharing of any one member of the community, can lead to the healing of all who are present.

At such times, "failure" is transformed into a triumph of human spirit.

This Is The Happiness Secret

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Monady June 9 2008

Welcome to another brand spanking new week that we get to play with.

I’m just amazed as we start this new week. Friday’s video offering by the incredible Napoleon Hill has topped every video we have ever sent. More people viewed the video between Friday morning and Sunday night than any “reader” we have offered.

It has proven to me once again that the “truth” of personal responsibility will always prevail. Napoleon Hill would be proud of each and every one of you all as you embrace his message, and spread the word with your decisions and actions. High five all.

To get this week off on a note that compliments the past two weeks, and especially the comments on Friday by Napoleon Hill.

This Is The Happiness Secret
by David Leonhardt

Is there a secret to happiness? You probably are expecting me to say "NO, there is no secret." While it is true that there are many factors that affect our happiness, I believe there is one secret that determines whether those factors will work for you, and that is the secret to happiness.

But first, a few words of background. In 2001, I published the first edition of "Climb Your Stairway to Heaven: The 9 Habits of Maximum Happiness." I did all the things authors do, right up to getting myself some media interviews. Being an old hand at media relations (actually, Canada's second-most-quoted consumer advocate at the time), you would think I would have been superbly prepared for the question that almost every journalist would ask me: "So, which of the 9 habits is most important?"

What?! Which one is most important? Why, they are all important, of course. That's why I wrote about them all. I was obviously too close to the forest to see the trees. Or, in this case, the tree.

After being asked this question a few times, I was forced to think, and think hard. And out of nowhere, I had an "Aha!" moment that stands the test of time five years later. One of the 9 habits I wrote about is more important than the others. One of my 9 habits activates all the others. One of my habits is the secret to happiness. It starts on page 83 of the second edition.

"Count Your Blessings"

It sounds so simple, and so, well, almost corny. But let me give you a concrete example of how this works. Have you ever bought a new car? Remember the pride you felt and the excitement when you made the choice? When you signed the papers? When you drove it off the lot? Do you remember that "new car smell"?

Then something happened. Where is that pride today? Where is that excitement now? What happened to that "new car smell"?

Simple. You stopped counting your blessings. When you bought the car, it was a step up. Perhaps it was a better car. Or a bigger car. Or simply a car that would spend less days on the hoist. You were grateful. You were appreciative. You were counting this blessing.

It does not take long for a new blessing to be taken for granted. And the new car becomes just another thing in your life that you take for granted. Consider this incredible set of statistics:

99% of people in the developed world take shelter for granted.
99% of people in the developed world take breakfast for granted.
99% of people in the developed world take lunch for granted.
99% of people in the developed world take dinner for granted.
99% of people in the developed world take clothing for granted.

At the risk of sounding trite or glib, most people in the developed world take cars, televisions, computers, vacations, toasters, freedom of speech, paper clips and thousands of other conveniences for granted. In fact, a TV remote control that requires a battery change or a web page that takes more than five seconds to load are considered serious irritations.

Who is happier, the person grateful to be able to change those batteries and wait for that web page? Or the person grumbling about the time it takes and the inconvenience and the bother and why can't things work better? (Why don't they make things like they used to? Why does the lineup have to be so long? Why is it so cold outside? Why do I have to go to work today?)

Of course you have every right to complain any time you choose. Nobody wants to take away your right to be unhappy. But I would love to take away your unhappiness, if you are willing to take action.

This is where "counting your blessings," simple and even corny, is not as easy as it sounds. Our knee-jerk reaction is to complain, to grumble, to be frustrated, to feel almost offended when things don't work out "perfectly", just the way we want them to. Imagine poor God, sifting through the millions of prayers he receives daily. Despite the cornucopia of blessings we receive, I am willing to bet that he receives ten times more "Gimmee" prayers than "Thank you" prayers.

Counting our blessings in this day and age of entitlement is not as simple as it sounds, and it sure is not easy to do. In fact, billions of dollars of advertising conspire to reinforce the belief that whatever we have is not good enough and that we deserve better. Who is there to tell us we have enough? Who can help us feel happy with what we have?

You. Only you. Are you ready to give up your own natural knee-jerk reaction and choose to be happy?

You can have all the confidence in the world, but if you do not actively feel grateful for the fruits of your confidence, it will not bring you happiness. You can have immaculate health, but if you do not think about how wonderful that is, it will not bring you happiness. You can smile, build friendships, achieve success, win the lottery, or do whatever you desire, but if you are not saying every day, "Wow! This is wonderful. This is grand. I am the luckiest man (or woman) alive because of this," don't expect it to bring you happiness.

Yes, there is a secret to happiness. The secret is gratitude. The secret is appreciation. The secret is to count your blessings.

Napoleon Hill: The Master of Personal Responsibility

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Friday June 6 2008

Welcome to the end of the first week of June.

This has been an amazing two weeks as we dug into the topic of “personal responsibility”. The feedback from subscribers with stories of change, shift, awareness, courage, and optimism have been outstanding. I’ll be using some as “readers” in coming days.

As we ploughed through the plethora of incredible material about the subject, one voice, and one body of work kept rising over and over again. This gentleman is honored greatly in the personal development industry. His seminal work is probably the best known personal growth work on the planet. He has touched and inspiredliterally millions of people in at least four generations with his wisdom and insight about what “personal responsibility” for the entire life experience is all about.

His Name Is: Napoleon Hill, and his classic work is, Think And Grow Rich.

This man touched my life, and continues today to bring me back to center whenever I find myself straying from the path of responsibility for my own life experience.

It is with humility and deep respect that I present him to you in the attached video offering of Napoleon Hill himself to wrap up these terrific two weeks. Listen and watch him carefully, I know you’ll visit this piece frequently.

The Universe Loves Speed

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Thursday June 5 2008

Welcome to the Thursday point of the week.

As we aim to wrap up this theme that we’ve been presenting for the past two weeks, I have to say that although we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of the topic, great things have been happening. Many of our subscribers have set new intentions for their future as a consequence of fully engaging this amazing subject of “personal responsibility”.

Tomorrow we wind up the topic with an outstanding video offering that neatly puts a bow on the whole initiative here at The Wealthy Attitude. It features someone whom you will clearly recognize, you know of their work, and you probably have a copy of their very famous book.

Anyway, enough teasing (for now). We call on our friend Thea Westra from Australia to give us an offering today. Thea clearly recognizes that level of how we “vibrate” is our responsibility.

The Universe Loves Speed
By Thea Westra

I've often heard it said that, "The Universe loves speed" and this of course includes, the speed of your own personal vibration.

How the world responds to you and therefore the results that you produce, are reliant on the vibrational energy that you put out. You have likely observed it yourself, many times. One person can walk into a room full of people and everyone's head turns and notices. Another person can attend a public event yet when a friend asks where they've been their reply is, "I've been right here!"

The energy that we emit either makes us super attractive and highly visible or else, obscure to those around us. There are people who we want to be near all the time and there are those we tend to avoid, and we can't always quite put our finger on why. It is all related to vibrational energy.

How does that connect to your personal success and happiness? That of course depends on what you define as success and on what you say makes you feel happy. Once these are determined, you then must generate the kind of energy that would move you toward producing that result.
You will know that you are experiencing success and happiness by the emotions you feel. Emotions are your measures. Yet, they are also your access. Some put the cart before the horse e.g. when I have … then I'll feel happy, or then I'll be successful.

When you get into action on projects that would bring you closer to your definition of success, some activities with which you engage will intrinsically provide you high energy and excitement, you've already associated them with fun and the things that you love to do.

Then there are the other activities, they may be things you cannot avoid in bringing your plans to fruition, yet you're not excited by those activities and your vibrational energy drops just thinking about doing them. You say you want the result, yet you cannot seem to drive up the level of personal energy required to engage fully with that particular activity and so you never get started, or you take action with one foot on the brakes.

Essentially, three types of energy exist - universal, personal and physical. Energy is not good or bad - it is simply just that, energy. We and all other matter, is made up of little atoms and it's the nucleus of these atoms that generate energy, creating electromagnetic fields. Thought controls their movement and the fields surrounding one of these, impacts each of the ones alongside.

To feel the emotions of happiness or the feelings that we associate with success, we want to go to work on finding ways of creating those types of energy vibrations. It is our thoughts that we want to be focused on, and directly connected to those thoughts are the words we use when we speak and in turn, the associations that we have connected to those words.

One person can say the word "mother" and feel completely at ease, yet another person speaks or thinks that word and will feel an emotion with a highly negative charge. We would then either want to replace that word with another that holds a positive charge and is therefore more personally empowering, or shift the associations we have with this word to bring us closer to a desired energy state.

For example, imagine you are in a business of your own and things are not faring well. What are all the thoughts you have when you say the word 'business'. As Dr Phil would say, "How's that working for you?" If you are not producing your desired results, could you attach some new thoughts to the word 'business' or give it another label that empowers you? This will help raise your personal, vibrational energy so that your personal actions and results will begin to reflect those newly created electromagnetic fields and attract the kinds of things you'd like.

Continue to work on your personal experience and understanding of what James Allen meant when he said, "All that we achieve and all that we fail to achieve is the direct result of our own thoughts."

Your Perception IS Your Reality

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Wednesday June 4 2008

Welcome to the midweek point.

I’m so wonderfully excited this week. The Wealthy Attitude Book Store is being received incredibly by our subscribers. I just couldn’t be happier as many are now seriously building their e-book library’s. You can check it out at: www.thewealthyattitudebookstore.com

Also, the topic we’ve been working on now for nearly two weeks has generated mail to me that has me just buzzing. Many people are now (especially in light of the economic conditions) finally realizing that being in control of their own business enterprise is great insurance against the ravages of an undisciplined economy. We’ll be talking much more on this subject soon!

Many of the notes I’ve received recently about the whole “personal responsibility” issue, focus on the question between “reality” and “perception”. Our friend Tony offers us something today that is certainly worth some consideration.

Your Perception IS Your Reality
by Tony D. Clark

"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." - Albert Einstein

"Everything you see or hear or experience in any way at all is specific to you. You create a universe by perceiving it, so everything in the universe you perceive is specific to you." - Douglas Adams

Take a minute to scan your surroundings. Are you in a familiar place or somewhere new?

Stop reading this, and just look around you. Pick out an object, maybe something you hadn't noticed before, and focus your attention on it. If you really focus, it'll get brighter and more "real" than it was when it was just an unnoticed piece of the background noise of your life.

Now, try to view your surroundings from the point of the object. Some people can do this with no effort, and for others, it takes some concentration. Depending on how adept you are at focusing your concentration, you may notice a slight shift in your perception - a weird jump in realty, where you are suddenly viewing the world from a different perspective.

Did it work? Whether you noticed anything or not, your perception did change, albeit for an instant. It's important to be conscious of your perception, because if you're not, someone else will create it for you.

Trick the Eye in French

Things aren't always what they seem. Marketers and magicians rely on this fact to make you see things the way they want you too see them. Artists do, too.

You may have seen Julian Beever's amazing pavement drawings. He utilizes the Trompe l'oeil technique, which means "trick the eye" in French. He uses his drawing stills to create a perception. Like an optical illusion, our mind attempts to fill in the details of something it either thinks it already knows, or doesn't quite understand.

This works out fine when that's the intention - momentarily letting our world be shaped for fun. But wandering through life, letting others create your perceptions, can make for a very unfulfilling journey.

Change Your Story, Change Your Perception, Change Your Life

We all get caught up in our stories. Most of us think we are our stories. It's when those stories take on a life of their own, and that life isn't the one we want, that things start to suck.

Think about the story you're living right now. Who wrote it? Did you consciously decide to create the reality you're living now, or was it mainly shaped by your parents, friends, spouse, school, or the media?

If you don't like the story your living, then change the perception. Envision how you'd write the next chapter of your story. Better yet, actually sit down and write it. Focus your perception on creating a new reality, one where you are in charge of the story. Take back the job as screenwriter and director, and stop just being an actor (unless you're Rachel McAdams - I rather enjoy her acting).

Everything begins with a decision.

Decide now to be in charge of your own perception of reality. Because if you don't, there are plenty of folks whose sole purpose in life is to craft that perception for you.

Do you trust them to have your best interests in mind?

The Science of Getting Rich: Getting Rich the Scientific Way!

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Tuesday June 3 2008

Welcome to Tuesday.

My deepest thanks to each of you who sent me your congratulations and best wishes yesterday on the launch of The Wealthy Attitude Book Store. I appreciate your notes more than mere words can express.

If you haven’t had a chance yet to visit the book store, you can do so at: http://www.thewealthyattitudebookstore.com/

Yesterday’s offering by our buddy Chuck stirred up many things if my mail is any indication. Almost every note reflected Chuck’s truism that “Personal responsibility is nothing other than the freedom to create your own lives”. Isn’t that just magic to hear. Personalize it and build it into your everyday language.

As we continue our topic of ‘personal responsibility’ I want to declare loudly again that, “it is YOUR personal responsibility to become as rich as you possibly can”. It is the only way that you can ensure that you’ll live all of your life by your own design.

A new member of our contributing writers shares his thoughts on the “science of getting rich”.

The Science of Getting Rich: Getting Rich the Scientific Way!
by Vladimir Murray

If you pay attention to the people around you what you will find is that there are far too many persons who desire to be rich, or to get rich, and at the same time believe they will never become rich. Usually what it really boils down to is the mere fact that they do not know what to do to get rich, or they may know some things but not others. They are unaware of the principles involved in getting rich, and thus by extension the science of getting rich.

When Wallace D. Wattles released his book ‘The Science of Getting Rich’ in 1910, little did he know the impact it would have on many persons lives almost one hundred years later. According to Wattles (and I totally agree with him) there is a science of getting rich and in order to be rich every man must adhere to its principles.

Now what is the science, what are the principles of getting rich? The major principle, I believe, is a natural law which states that ‘like causes always produces like effects’. Therefore the people in this world who are rich, become and remain rich because they are doing things in a particular way, whether consciously or unconsciously. Those who are not doing thing in this particular way, will remain poor no matter how hard, or how long they work, or how capable they are. This principle eliminates the excuse, that the environment is why many are not rich.

You see too many persons from poor backgrounds are rich, or are becoming rich, for this excuse to be true. It also eliminates the idea that doing things a particular way is only for persons with talent. No, no, no, this can’t be it for there are many, many persons who possess great talent who continue to be poor, whilst others with little or no talent are getting rich every day. Let me repeat, getting rich is the result of doing things a particular way. So if you are a plumber with similar skills to other plumbers in your area who are getting rich from plumbing while you are not, then it will be because you are not doing things in the same way that the other plumbers are doing them.

The next principle is one that has over the last year or so, and still is, been getting a lot of attention. It is called The Law of Attraction and it has been made famous by Rhonda Byrne's book and DVD ‘The Secret’, which was featured on CNN and Oprah among other media programs. This principle states ‘Thoughts Become Things’. You see our world and everything in it first began with a thought. The thoughts that we think, are emitted vibrations broadcasted into the universe attracting to them vibrations of the same frequency which manifest what we come to see and experience in our physical world as our current reality. Man cannot shape a thing until he has first, thought that thing.

So if a person has the thought of a kitchen of a certain design and this thought is in line with the same frequency in the universe, it may not cause the kitchen to just instantly appear, but it would set in motion events and creative processes that will bring about the building of the kitchen to the specific design. For this reason it is important for us to communicate our thoughts to the universe if we are to cause the creation, or formation of the thing we think about.

The third principle is ‘The Law of Gratitude’ which is nothing more than giving thanks to God for his gifts. The more grateful we are as we focus our mind on God when good things come our way the more good things we will receive and the more quickly they will come. Gratitude draws our mind into closer link with God and His blessing. Many are kept in poverty by their lack of gratitude. If you consistently and truthfully express your gratitude and it is strong enough then God’s reaction will also be consistent, strong and continuous. The things you want will always be moving toward you. When you live your life with gratitude you will find yourself focused on only the best and in turn this will bring to you only the best. Waste no time thinking or talking about the faults and flaws of others or even in you. Work instead on cultivating the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you and give God thanks.

The fourth principle is that of Visualization of your desire and its attainment. You cannot transmit an idea unless you have it yourself. Visualization is about forming and holding a clear and definite mental picture of what it is you want. If it is you desire a brand new car, then it’s not good enough to visualize any old car. You must be more specific, in fact be as specific as possible. So instead you must see in your minds eye the car you want, the make and model, how it feels on the road, the color, size of the wheel, its features, and even how you will feel driving it. You must see the thing you want as if it already exists, take possession of it in faith believing it is already yours and do not waiver for a moment in the faith that it is real.

The fifth principle is Personal Action. This arguably the second most important principle in the Science of Getting Rich for without action all your thoughts will mean and attain nothing. You must take definite action now. Your personal action, however, must be of such that you can rightly receive what you want when it comes. It makes no sense to desire something and not take some action towards its attainment, this will only lead to frustration leaving you feeling discouraged. There is a quote which says “He who desires but acts not breeds pestilence”. The way you think brings things to you but your by actions you receive them. You must act in a particular way such that you can appropriate what is yours when it comes to you. It does not matter what your situation is, whether it be favorable or not, you must not delay taking action. Wait not for favorable conditions. When you take personal action, do so with no thought of yesterday, or tomorrow, as your present action will be divided in your mind making you ineffective. So put your whole mind and body into the present action. Take action where you are now.

The last principle is that of Getting in the Right Business. You will do best in that business for which your abilities are best suited. That means it will be easier to succeed if you are in a business for which you are well equipped with the skills and mental tools. Bear in mind, however, that you can get rich in any business even if you do not possess the necessary talents because you can develop the skills needed as you go along. Also you can get rich most satisfactorily if you do that which you want to do. Doing what you want to do is at the core of what life is about. Now if you are in a business or situation that you do not want to be in but you have ‘no choice’ due to some obligation or responsibility like children to support, then do what you have to do. You can make the doing of it pleasing by knowing (reminding yourself) that it is making it possible for you to get to the doing of what you want to do.

By making constructive use of the business you are already in and working in a particular way, you can get into the business you want. Always start from where you are.

The science of getting rich gives you the courage and the power to handle any circumstance that may obstruct your progress towards getting rich. Once you follow and obey the principles you cannot fail to get rich. Practice the instructions and you will surely get rich and you will do so in exact proportion to the definiteness of your vision, the fixity of your purpose, the steadiness of your faith and the depth of your gratitude.

Personal Responsibility

A note from peter@thewealthyattitude.com for Monday June 2 2008

Welcome to a brand spanking new month.

I’m blisteringly excited here at this desk as I was able to accomplish a goal I had set for myself when we launched The Wealthy Attitude with the new format back in January. It was always my intention to provide our subscribers with an opportunity to advance the many topics and concepts opened by our great contributors. Now we have a way to do just that very thing.

We have launched The Wealthy Attitude Book Store, and you can now build upon your e-book and audio library at: http://www.thewealthyattitudebookstore.com/ So go check out the first 90 titles on the shelves. I believe you’ll like what you see, and we’re going to be adding new ones every month.

Now, as mentioned last week, we’re going to be continuing the topic of “personal responsibility” right through this week and we’ll be finishing up on Friday with a video offering that will tie everything together. So, on with today’s offering.

Our good friend Chuck lays it out clearly today.

Personal Responsibility
by Chuck Gallozzi

Responsibility is not a burden, it's a blessing

Today's subject is responsibility. Not social responsibility, which is a separate issue, but personal responsibility. When we take responsibility, we admit we are the ones responsible for the choices we make. We, not other people or events, are responsible for the way we think and feel. It is our life, and we are in charge of it. We are free to enjoy it or disdain it. No, we are not responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel, and act when they happen.

Why did God make us so fleet-footed? Some would argue it is to allow us to dodge, duck, and run from responsibility! Why would anyone want to do that? Well, many people associate responsibility with duty and obligations, which, in turn, are thought of as burdens. But personal responsibility is not a burden, it is a blessing. This becomes clear when we understand that PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY IS NOTHING OTHER THAN THE FREEDOM TO CREATE OUR OWN LIVES. Yes, responsibility is equated with freedom and power. Once we awaken to this fact, we become liberated and empowered. Once we become aware of this truth, we shed our victim mentality and gain the power to transform ourselves.

The other day it was pouring rain. Some waved their arms in exasperation and complained that their day off was 'ruined' by the weather. How can a free car wash and watering of the lawn 'ruin' one's day? The complainers are not free. They are in prisons of their own making. They 'can't' enjoy life simply because it's 'too' wet outside. Instead of choosing to be miserable, why not choose to rent a hilarious video, play indoor mini golf, visit the library or bookstore, see a friend, or dress properly, take an umbrella, and enjoy a walk in the rain? Why reject the roles of creativity, flexibility, and resiliency in order to play the role of victim? Why choose to be weak when one can be strong? Why choose to be sullen when one can be thrilled?

Let's get personal and talk about you for a moment. Are you perfectly happy with the way things are at this time, or do you wish things were better? Chances are you are neither perfectly happy nor completely unhappy, for most of us lie somewhere between both extremes. However, if you're not totally satisfied, what are you doing about it? If you continue to do the same things, everything will remain the same. Nothing will change until you do.

If a change in your life is warranted, why not begin by recognizing that your present situation is not the result of your genes, parents, education, job, luck, timing, health, or environment. Rather, it is the choices you have made and the actions you have taken that have brought you where you are today. Change your choices and actions and you will change the results that follow. This understanding is the first step in personal transformation. The second step is the action that follows, for as Dietrich Bonhoffer (1906 ~ 1945) wrote, "Action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility."

What action should we take? Start by taking a personal inventory. That is, examine your life to learn the extent that you are either already taking responsibility or evading it. This is best done by asking yourself a series of questions and writing the answers for later study. Here's what I mean. Do you ever say to yourself or others any of the following? Life is so unfair. I'm unlucky. No one wants to help me. It's not my fault that I'm the way I am. Life is an endless struggle; there are too many burdens to bear. Terrible things are always happening to me. My parents (spouse, friends, coworkers, boss, health, the weather, or the political situation) make me depressed (angry or frustrated). I feel overwhelmed and helpless. Some people get all the breaks; I'm just unfortunate. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. There's nothing I can do; it's just the way the world is. I can't succeed because of the corrupt government, blood-sucking corporations, greedy employers, and back-stabbing coworkers. I'm unsuccessful because of the prejudice (age discrimination, sexism, jealousy, hatred, stupidity) of others. I would be successful if it weren't for the idiots holding me back. Self-help books, positive thinking, or the advice of others can't help me.

Can you see where I'm going with this? All the above thoughts express the mindset of a self made victim. Instead of taking personal responsibility and taking charge of one's life, that kind of thinking is used to blame others or life for one's own failures. That type of thinking is dead-end thinking, self-defeating thinking. With these thoughts in mind, and tongue in cheek, Ambrose Bierce (1842 ~ 1914) defines responsibility in his "The Devil's Dictionary" as follows: "RESPONSIBILITY, n. A detachable burden easily shifted to the shoulders of God, Fate, Fortune, Luck or one's neighbor. In the days of astrology it was customary to unload it upon a star."

Yes, it's easy to shift the responsibility and blame others or events. But what good is that? All it does is keep us in a rut. We cannot make any real progress until we admit to ourselves, "Only I can hold myself back. Only I can stand in my own way. Only I can help myself. Only I can take personal responsibility. Only I can transform myself from a victim of circumstances to a reasoning, choice-making, action oriented person. Only I can make the decision to stop acting like a victim and start taking charge of my life."

One of the first 'people' we greet each morning is our reflection in the mirror. Don't we want to be accountable, answerable, and responsible for the life we are creating for it? By accepting that responsibility, we unleash great power and transform ourselves. It may be convenient for a caterpillar to have so many legs, but it remains earthbound. It is far better to make a dramatic change and transform ourselves like a butterfly, so we can take flight and explore a new world.

Let me end by saying, all this emphasis on making the right choices and accepting personal responsibility is for your benefit only. That is, use these ideas to improve yourself, but not to judge others. You can never enter the mind, heart, and body of another, so you are unaware of the reasons for their failures. Not everyone is as ready as you are to change. That's why it is written in the Talmud (Rabbinical writings of the 1 ~ 6 centuries AD), "A man may not be responsible for his actions in an hour of tribulation and pain."

On the other hand, if you are racked with pain, saddled with poverty, or deprived of other blessings most take for granted, use your experience to have compassion for those who are even worst off than you, but do not use your burdens as excuses to remain in a negative frame of mind. You have enough problems already; don't add to them by endlessly complaining, for that only entrenches them deeper into your life. Rather, look for the good, appreciate it, and take responsibility by making the most of what you have.

Happiness is a choice, just like misery is; we all have the responsibility to make the right choices.

We owe it to ourselves to do so.
